Rain Tunnel Express employs methods and technology that eliminate the wasted water and harmful pollutants that are common by-products of everyday residential car washing.
By precisely measuring the water before the wash, we use less than 30 gallons of water on each vehicle. Handwashing a car at home can use in excess of 120 gallons.
Residential car washing deposits such pollutants as petroleum products, phosphorous, ammonia, surfactants and solid wastes directly into storm sewers, which drain the tainted water into local streams and rivers. We reclaim the water used after each wash and send it to a water treatment facility.
Every year, by bringing their cars to Rain Tunnel Express instead of washing at home, our customers help keep approximately 1,200 gallons of petroleum, 2,300 pounds of phosphorous and nitrogen, 300 pounds of ammonia, 14,000 pounds of surfactants, and 190,000 pounds of solid wastes out of our local rivers, streams and ecosystems.
