Rain Tunnel Express is a Proud to Help The Shoeman Water Projects Get Clean Water to People Who Need It in the Developing World!

“Someone dies every 21 seconds due to waterborne diseases,” says George Hutchings – founder of the Shoeman Water Projects. His company has pioneered the channeling of funds raised from the donation of used shoes to help people in developing nations gain access to clean water.

Since 2008, using “donation stations” at participating businesses, Shoeman Water Projects has collected more than 3.5 million pounds of shoes and donated them to poor communities in South America, Haiti and Kenya. Some of the footwear is sent to be used and sold by the people in these underdeveloped communities, while the profits from re-selling/exporting the shoes is used to repair water pumps, as well as the purchase of well-drilling rigs and water purification systems, thus far helping more than a 250,000 people.(shoemanwater.org)

Though certainly happy with the progress of his organization, Mr. Hutchings has bigger plans, including collecting enough shoes to buy a $300,000 rig that will have the ability to drill one well per week in Kenya. To help him reach his goals, George is hoping that retailers will get involved in his mission, and Rain Tunnel Express Car Wash is one of many local businesses to happily recognize the importance of his work and extend a helping hand.

“Each of our six locations is now collecting shoes for SWP, and we’re also offering $1 off of our MONSOON Premium Wash for every pair of shoes a customer donates when they visit,” says Rain Tunnel Express owner, Scott Knight. “A person could actually bring in 10 pairs of shoes and get our MONSOON Premium car wash for free that day.” ($10 is the normal cost of the MONSOON Premium Car Wash Plus+ with Paint Guard featuring Carnauba Wax.)

“The seasons are changing, some of your older shoes that you may have been thinking of throwing away or storing for the winter now have the power to help a person in needs get access to clean water.” Mr. Knight concludes, “and until October 31, if you donate your shoes at any of our locations, you’ll also save a $1 off our premium wash for every pair. You can save a a few bucks and help save some lives, too. It’s a win-win and just a great cause that we’re proud to be a part of.”
